Vegan Group Trips with Anna: The Path to Vegan Adventures

By Anna McKitrick | September 01, 2023

Veganism is getting more and more popular. We see more vegan options in grocery stores, local restaurants, and areas with more knowledge of veganism than ever before, with new options popping up daily.

But what about travel? Many vegans still fear traveling and have reservations about whether or not they'll be able to find vegan options at their destination.

Anna aka who hosts vegan group trips, is sharing her thoughts on vegan travel and how to find incredible vegan options around the world!

Embracing Authentic Flavors: Vegan Travel at its Best

My biggest tip when traveling internationally is don't try to avoid the local cuisine and find "obscure vegan options" - lean into the local culture.

Exploring foreign lands as a vegan isn't about limitations – it's about embracing culinary diversity and discovering how local ingredients can be transformed into plant-based delights. You'll be surprised to learn how many countries are even more naturally vegan-friendly than the US!

Finding Vegan Friends

A big thing that can ruin a trip is someone who doesn't want to eat the same things you do and isn't willing to compromise. Not all places will have vegan options, and if you only have two days in Paris - your non-vegan friends might not want to come to the vegan restaurant you heard about.

Find people with the same values as you. That was a big reason I started hosting these group trips as well. Traveling with like-minded individuals who want to eat the same food as you makes a huge difference!

Where are the most vegan-friendly places you recommend traveling to?

Mexico City is excellent. There's a reason I decided to host a group trip there. Not only are there incredible, naturally plant-based options, but there is also a huge vegan community there, so there are a lot of veganized versions of non-vegan classics.

London is one of my favorite vegan destinations because almost every restaurant I visited in London was vegan-friendly, along with many delicious vegan options. Guatemala is another place where I host group trips because of the stunning country and absolute abundance of vegan options!

Portugal (especially Lisbon) has many delicious vegan options and incredible restaurants!

Overall, you can travel while experiencing authentic food and culture in almost any country if you'd like to do that with support and a group of new vegan friends. Come on one of my group trips!
